History
Community of Caring Monterey Peninsula was founded in 1997 by a coalition of educators, civic, business and community leaders to improve the culture for youth and families on the Monterey Peninsula. Our founders began by adopting the framework of Core Values from the national Community of Caring program and adapting it to meet the unique needs of the Monterey Peninsula. Since 2005, our efforts have been focused on interactive programs delivered to students in both after-school and classroom environments.
Over the years, our programs and impact have expanded radiating from the Peninsula to the farthest corners of Monterey County. Through strong collaborations with educators and dedicated community members, CCMP bridges the substantial shortfall of character development resources in our school systems and bolsters the ongoing efforts to make a difference by cultivating caring communities throughout Monterey County. Programs put values into action, whether the emphasis is on bullying prevention or community service.
All participants receive value when communities support character development education - a tangible investment in our future workforce.
