RECOMMENDED FRAMEWORK
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Community of Caring, Monterey Peninsula, we believe that the values of caring,
mutual respect, trust, responsibility and family are the heart of a healthy and thriving
community. We further believe that healthy and thriving communities are built through a
strong, inclusive, sustainable, and accountable network of community members who both
model these values and stimulate them in others.
OUR VISION
When Community of Caring, Monterey Peninsula is successful, we will see community
members of all ages and walks of life engaging in acts of mutual respect, trust, caring,
recognition and responsibility toward each other.
OUR MISSION
Community of Caring, Monterey Peninsula is a richly diverse collaboration of
community members who have come together to be a catalyst for addressing local needs
through the Community of Caring values framework.
DESIRED OUTCOMES (5 Year Timeline)
- A viable collaborative network of community partners that decreases duplication of
efforts, increases sharing of resources, and increases partners effectiveness.
- An ongoing succession of community-based activities that facilitate and promote
successful development of Peninsula youth.
- An increased sense of trust, safety and well being among Peninsula community members.
- An increase in acts of caring and mutual respect by community members displayed in
businesses, schools, families and neighborhoods throughout Peninsula communities.
- An increase in acts of individual and collective responsibility among Peninsula
community members.
MAJOR Strategies
- Model Community of Caring values in all our activities and support values education
programs that are complementary to those of the Community of Caring framework
- Develop and implement a Comprehensive Communications Plan that is goal-oriented,
addresses communications both within and outside the collaborative system, includes formal
recognitions and celebrations, and provides for use of a variety of media resources.
- Engage the Community of Caring collaborative network to:

and resources in working to achieve our Desired Outcomes. |

| use existing delivery systems, where
possible, to reduce duplication of efforts and increase efficiencies. |

| identify gaps, overlaps, and
opportunities for services and values enactment. |

curricula throughout the Peninsula and across all community sectors. |

| support Peninsula youth in designing
and providing community-based youth development activities. |

- Utilize Community of Carings independent non-profit organization to govern,
coordinate and administer Community of Caring tasks and activities.

Within the next five years, our work at Community of Caring should result in the
