Community of Caring Monterey Peninsula is proud to launch the 4th year of CHOICES-Monterey County. As the largest community-based organization managed program for CHOICES, we have delivered workshops in nearly all secondary school districts in the County - nearly 9,000 students, to date! With enthusiastic support from school administrators and teachers, business and community volunteers facilitate two 45-minute, interactive, decision-making workshop sessions in 100 classrooms per year. 8th or 9th grade students are facilitated through real-world exercises on academic self-discipline, time and money management, and goal setting. CHOICES causes a shift in students’ understanding, attitudes and motivation for learning. For some CHOICES makes the difference between dropping out and staying in school to graduate. For others, it conveys for the first time the relevance of education to their future.
